GUWAHATI: The investigation into Assam Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment scam has revealed involvement of many people from Nalabri district of lower Assam. Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Crime Branch arrested one Kumud Goswami from Nalabri for his involvement in the question paper leak case.
Goswami, an agriculture department employee was a part of the entire nexus. He was allegedly involvement in the Pancharayt and Rural Develeopemnt Department (PNRD) recruitment scam. According to reports, Anup Haloi, one of the relatives of Kumud Goswami helped him in collecting money from the candidates. Haloi is an employee of PNRD who allegedly got the job by unfair means.
They allegedly took around Rs. 5 lakh as advance from each candidate. Goswami is being currently interrogated in Guwahati. Police has also been interrogating Kuldwip Rajbongshi, a confederate of Kumud Goswami in the scam.
Earlier, Nalabri Police arrested four candidates who appeared in the illegal exam at ‘Thank You’ lodge in Guwahati.
