Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma gave his first reaction post the transfer of SP Anand Mishra.

Addressing the media, Chief Minister Sarma said while SP Mishra was not involved in the case, his comments at a recent press conference on the inquiry committee report were not in line with his duty.

Further, Chief Minister Sarma said that the police have all the right to nab criminals, but in the process, they cannot harass innocent people.

The outgoing Nagaon SP had raised questions about the one man inquiry committee report investigating the shooting of AASU leader Kirtikamal Bhuyan in the media. He also had aired his displeasure on actions taken against the police personnel allegedly involved in the committee based on the report.

It is to be mentioned that in the interest of public service, Nagaon SP Anand Mishra was transferred to Assam Police Headquarters on Wednesday. A notification issued by the home department stated that Nagaon SP Anand Mishra has been transferred and attached to Assam Police HQ Ulubari until further orders.

According to the notification, Dhruba Bora, ASP, Nagaon (HQ), has been given the temporary charge of SP of the district to look after the current duties until further order.

The development came hours after SP Mishra addressed a press conference in Nagaon, alleging that former students’ leader Kirti Kamal Bora, who was injured in police firing, was found with a drug smuggler.
