Muslim couple in Assam extends help to build Namghars, temples

GUWAHATI: Showing an extraordinary example of communal harmony, a Muslim couple from Jorhat district of Assam has been providing financial aid to many Hindu places of worship.

Hemidur Rahman and his wife Persia Sultana have come forward for the development and repairing of many temples and ‘Namghars’ in the district.

The couple recently generously contributed to a ‘Namghar’ at Handique Gaon near Titabor Railway Station for the construction of its new building.

“Rahman was repairing a road near the Namghar. When he saw the condition of our Namghar, he came forward to help us,” said a local man.

The couple also provided financial help to several other temples, mosques and Namghars in the district.

Hemdiur and Persia who own a business establishment at Chinamora also repaired many roads connecting to the places of worship.
