“He used to beat up his mother as well as his two sons. I suspect that he had poured kerosene on his mother and set her on fire,” a neighbour said.

“I came to know about the incident around 3:30 am. I think my brother is behind the incident. My brother used to torture my mother and also his two sons. He is an alcoholic. His first wife who is now separated also kept instigating him, saying she will only come back to his house is he silences our mother and his two sons,” Jugoda’s daughter said between sobs, unable to hold back her tears.
“My mother had stayed with me for a month and a half. She used to say about the situation and how my alcoholic brother used to create a scene almost regularly,” she added.
Khirod’s elder son, meanwhile, said his grandmother had sent him to a friend’s house to stay for the night after she reportedly overheard his son speaking to someone over phone about a “plan to kill someone”.
