GUWAHATI: “Most of the positive cases in Assam are imported not home-grown,” clarified Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma amid the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the State.
Taking to Twitter Dr. Sarma stated that all the swabs are collected from the people soon after they arrive from outstation. Subsequently they are transferred to the quarantine centres.

Earlier on Sunday Dr. Sarma reaffirmed that majority of the COVID-19 positive cases have been found among the incoming people and at different quarantine centres.
Assam has reported a total of 427 COVID-19 positive cases so far. The State Government has adopted a ‘Ruthless quarantine but with a human heart’ policy to control the spread of Coronavirus. Massive surveillance programme across the State has also been launched.
