GUWAHATI, Oct 22: The mortal remains of young policewoman Archana Devi, who breathed her last at GMCH yesterday after meeting a tragic road accident at Sonapur, were taken to her ancestral village in Sipajhar today. Archana, who was recruited into the Assam Police as a sub-inspector in 2021, was travelling to Sonapur on that fateful night, when their patrol vehicle rammed into a stationary truck.

The young policewoman was rushed to GMCH with serious injuries where she was undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU). Her condition deteriorated and she breathed her last yesterday (Oct 21).

Family members and relatives were seen in tears when her mortal remains arrived at Archana’s parental home.

“She was a pride of our village. She was academically very good and was recruited as a sub-inspector in Assam Police in 2021. It’s very tragic that she lost her life in the road accident,” a villager said.

Her mortal remains were later consigned to flames.
