Morigaon DC, SP’s contact history with COVID19 patient is 14-day old

GUWAHATI: Amid widespread speculations, Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that the contact history of deputy commissioner (DC) and superintendent of police (SP) of middle Assam’s Morigaon district with a person who has turned COVID19 positive on Thursday is 14-day old.

Taking to Twitter, minister Sarma wrote, “Contract history of DC/SP of Morigaon with the now turned positive person is more than 14 days old. As per protocol, their test samples are being collected today result of which would be known by this evening. Request my friends in Media not to speculate.”

Two persons from Morigaon district tested COVID19 positive on Thursday. Both of them are reportedly secondary contacts of Nizamuddin Markaz attendees. So far, Assam has reported 34 COVID19 positive cases. Among them, one patient from southern Assam’s Hailakandi district passed away at Silchar Medical College on April 10. On the other hand, 5 patients—2 from Sonapur District Hospital and 3 from Goalpara Civil Hospital have been discharged on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
