MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi opposes Congress-AIUDF alliance

PUBLISHED:

GUWAHATI: As the Congress heads for an alliance with Maulana Badruddin Ajmal-led All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) ahead of 2021 assembly polls in Assam, Congress MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi has vehemently opposed the pact between the two parties.

Speaking to News Live Chief Managing Editor Syed Zarir Hussain,  Kurmi said, “I have been opposing the alliance with AIUDF and I will continue to do so.”

The legislator from Mariani constituency claimed that the alliance would hamper the poll performance of the Congress party in upper Assam.

“It will definitely cause harm to Congress. Because there are differences of ideology between Congress and AIUDF,” Kurmi said.

He also alleged that a handful of Congress leaders are favouring an alliance with Badrudin Ajmal-led party because of their self-interests.
