Mizoram reports 25 new COVID-19 cases; tally mounts to 3,393

Aizawl: Mizoram”s COVID-19 tally mounted to 3,393 with 25 more people testing positive for the virus, an official said on Sunday.
The COVID-19 death toll in the state rose to four with one more person succumbing to the disease, the official said.

State Nodal officer of Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), Dr Pachuau Lalmalsawma, who is also Health department spokesperson on COVID-19, said a 34-year-old man succumbed to the disease at Zoram Medical College (ZMC) on Saturday night.

His body will be buried as per the existing COVID-19 protocol on Sunday, Pachuau said.

Of the 25 fresh cases, 21 were reported from Aizawl district, two from Lawngtlai district and one case each was reported from Lunglei and Serchhip districts, according to a statement by state Information and Public Relations department.

The number of active cases stands at 569 while 2,820 people have already recovered, the statement said. PTI
