The deceased has been identified as Vanlalhmangaihzuali Fanai who is a resident of Lunglei in south Mizoram and worked as a Muster Roll at P&E revenue Sub-division Lunglei.

Police officials suspected that the victim fell into the elevator shaft of the hotel from a malfunctioning elevator door and was killed.

The woman went missing from the hotel six days ago after she arrived with her boyfriend on April 13 to appear for a competitive examination.

On April 14, her boyfriend lodged a missing complaint at Aizawl Police Station and an investigation was initiated based on the complaint.
