Mizo pop sensation Feli Fanai dies at 33

GUWAHATI, Feb 12: Popular Mizo popstar Feli Fanai passed away at 2:15 am today following multiple health issues. She was 33.

The 33-year-old singer was admitted to the hospital in December last years following health complications and exhaustion. Her lealth took a rapid decline following which she was transferred to the ICU for but tragically succumbed to her illness today morning.

She leaves behind two sons, her parents, two brothers, and a sister.

Feli Fanai’s funeral will be held at her home in Champhai Venglai today.

Her untimely demise has left a deep void in the hearts of her fans and the music fraternity.

Born on September 8, 1991, Feli Fanai was not only known for her mesmerizing voice but also for her captivating stage presence.

Her career took off with the release of her debut music video in 2013, and she soon became a household name in Mizoram’s music scene.

One of her most popular songs, “Lengdang tang a bel,” has amassed over 3 million views on YouTube, solidifying her status as a pioneer of Mizo pop music.

Feli’s immense talent and contribution to the industry earned her several prestigious awards, including the Vulmawi Award, Thazual Award, Lelte Award, and Moonlight Award.

She was recognized as the Iconic Artist of the Year in 2019 and won the People’s Choice Award: Zo Community in 2020.

Additionally, she was inducted into the Heritage Hall of Fame in 2019 as a Heritage Diva.
