Missing IAF AN-32 yet to be traced, ISRO joins search ops

The missing Indian Air Force (IAF) AN-32 aircraft that went missing after taking off from the Jorhat airbase yesterday (June 3) afternoon is yet to be traced.

Search operations to locate the missing AN-32 are underway with two Mi17s and one ALH deployed to locate the aircraft.

Meanwhile, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has also joined the hunt and has pressed into service its RISAT series of radar imaging satellites to locate the missing aircraft.

Cloudy weather, reports said, has also hampered search operations.

A total of eight aircrew and five passengers were onboard the aircraft when it lost contact with ground.

The AN-32 aircraft that was headed for the Mechuka Advanced Landing Ground had taken off from the Jorhat airbase at 12:25 pm today (June 3) and last contacted ground at 1 pm.
