A miscreant desecrated a statue of Don Bosco in Tezpur town with police claiming that they are trying to nail the culprit involved in the incident. The incident, Tezpur Police said, took place on Saturday night around midnight.
The statue of Don Bosco that was desecrated by was installed in front of the Bishop’s House in Tezpur. The watchman said that he saw a man hit the statue with an iron rod on Saturday night. However, the miscreant ran away after the watchman saw him and tried to grab hold of him.
“There was a single person who came with a rod and started hitting the statue of Don Bosco. The incident took place on Saturday night. The miscreant ran away after I saw him hitting the statue,” the watchman said and added that he informed police in the morning.
“It’s very unfortunate that such an incident has taken place. We came to know about the incident in the morning after people started congregating for the Sunday morning prayers,” a resident of Tezpur professing Christian faith said.
Police have so far failed to nab the person behind the desecration of the Don Bosco statue.
