Mercury continues to soar in Assam

GUWAHATI: After battling with excessive rainfall and floods along with the ongoing battle against COVID-19 pandemic, Assam has been hit by intense heat. The people have been facing hard times as the mercury continues to soar in for last few days.

On Wednesday, Guwahati recorded a maximum of 38.6 degree Celsius which is a 6-degree departure from the normal temperature and a minimum of 27.8 degree Celsius which is a 2-degree departure from the normal temperature. The last highest maximum temperature was recorded on 25 August 2016 and the highest minimum temperature was recorded on 21 August 2016 which was 21.8 degree Celsius.

On the other hand, maximum temperature recorded in Guwahati on Thursday was 36 degree Celcius.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati, the temperature in the city will remain the same till August 13. It has predicted maximum temperature of 37 degree Celcisus on Friday.  

The citizens of other parts in the state are also getting no respite from the rising temperature.
