Mentally-challenged youth assaulted in Darang, moral policemen thrash old man at Barpeta Char

There seems to be no end to child-lifter rumours in Assam. A mentally-challenged youth was physically assaulted by a mob at Daipam village under Dalgaon police station in Darang district last night. He was later rescued from the mob by a team of policemen from Dalgaon police station.

The mentally-challenged youth hails from Besimari-Silbori village under Dalgaon PS.

On the other hand, an old man, believed to be in his late sixties or early seventies, was assaulted by a group of people at Balajan char, Baghbor, in Barpeta district.

Enraged villagers turned moral policemen as they thrashed the old man for allegedly making obscene gestures to a young girl.
