Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder: A shocking case of betrayal and murder has rocked the country, as a newlywed man was allegedly killed by his wife and her lover during their honeymoon trip to Meghalaya. The case, now known as the Meghalaya honeymoon murder, has revealed a chilling love triangle that ended in tragedy.
Raja Raghuvanshi, who had just gotten married, went to Meghalaya with his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi for their honeymoon. But what was supposed to be the beginning of a new life turned into his last trip. According to the Meghalaya Police, Sonam and her lover Raj Kushwaha have confessed to planning and executing Raja’s murder while on this trip.
Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder: A Secret Relationship Ends in Bloodshed
Sonam and Raj were in a secret relationship even before her marriage with Raja. Despite her marriage, their affair continued, and together, they made a shocking decision — to eliminate Raja from their lives permanently. Superintendent of Police (East Khasi Hills) Vivek Syiem confirmed that both Sonam and Raj admitted to their crime and even helped police recreate the scene of the murder.
“They showed us exactly how it happened. We found evidence at the location. There’s no need for a narco test now,” the SP said, responding to Raja’s family’s demand for further tests. He added that narco-analysis is not necessary when there is already enough evidence, and the Supreme Court has restrictions on its use.
Multiple Arrests in the Murder Case
So far, eight people have been arrested in connection with Raja’s murder. These include Sonam Raghuvanshi herself, Raj Kushwaha, and others like Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Raj Singh Kushwaha, and Anand. All are now in judicial custody.
On June 21, a district court in Shillong sent Sonam and Raj to 13 days of judicial custody. And just two days later, on June 23, another person named Lokendra Singh Tomar was also arrested. Police say he helped dispose of the pistol and a bag full of money used in the crime and tried to destroy key evidence.
Love, Lies, and a Chilling Plan
What’s truly disturbing is how carefully the plan was made and carried out. Sonam had started a new life with Raja, but behind his back, she was in touch with Raj. Their relationship led to a deadly plan during what should have been the most memorable trip of a couple’s life.
The murder has left the public in shock — especially because it happened in the peaceful hills of Meghalaya and involved a newly married couple. Locals, as well as social media users, are reacting strongly, demanding strict punishment for all those involved.
Ongoing Investigation
Police say the investigation is still ongoing. More evidence is being collected, and all those involved are being questioned. The authorities are confident they will be able to build a strong case, especially since Sonam and Raj have already confessed and shown the crime scene details to the officers.
This heartbreaking story of betrayal and murder during a honeymoon is a chilling reminder of how love and obsession, when twisted, can lead to shocking crimes. Raja Raghuvanshi lost his life at the hands of someone he trusted the most — his wife. Justice may take time, but the truth is now out in the open.
