Meghalaya honeymoon murder: The five arrested accused, including Raja Raghuvanshi’s wife Sonam and her lover Raj Kushwaha, were taken to Cherrapunji from Shillong for crime scene recreation
It’s an important day in so far as the probe into the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case is concerned. Meghalaya Police is carrying out a crime scene recreation in the pristine hills of Cherrapunji, or Sohra as the place is addressed to by locals, where Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi was murdered, allegedly plotted by wife Sonam and her lover Raj Kushwaha and executed by three contract killers.
The five accused — Sonam Raghuvanshi, her lover Raj Kushwaha, and the hired assassins Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan and Anand Kurmi — were brought to Cherrapunji from Shillong today morning amid heightened security.
A cavalcade of Meghalaya Police vehicles carrying the five arrested accused was seen entering the place near the Wei Sawdong Falls where Raja Raghuvanshi was allegedly murdered on May 23.
Visuals showed Meghalaya Police barricading the area and barring the entry of journalists while recreating the crime scene.
Meghalaya Police had on Friday said that all the five accused will be taken to Cherrapunji for the process of recreating the crime scene as part of the investigation process once examination of the arrested accused is over.
“Once examination is over, we will do the reconstruction of the crime scene,” East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem had said.
Earlier on Monday Meghalaya Police announced that it has recovered the machete, a local Dao, which was used to kill Raja by the contract killers employed by Sonam, all of whom are now in the custody of police.
The machete was reportedly purchased from near Gauhati Railway Station by the hired assassins, Meghalaya Police reportedly stated.
Meanwhile, two videos — one in which Raja and Sonam are seen trekking in the hills of Cherrapunji while and the other showed the three hired assassins — both allegedly shot hours before Raja was murdered by hired assailants in the presence of his wife — have gone viral on social media.
In one of the videos shot by a tourist named Dev Singh, Raja and Sonam were seen trekking in the pristine and beautiful hills of Meghalaya: Raja totally oblivious and unaware of the deadly plot hatched by his wife Sonam and her lover Raj Kushwaha to silence him forever.
The case has seen a lot of developments after Sonam was arrested in Uttar Pradesh and brought to Shillong by a team of Meghalaya Police.
Sonam’s paramour Raj Kushwaha, the main conspirator in the spine-chilling murder case, along with the three hired assassins were also brought to Shillong from Indore where they were arrested.
They were later send to eight days of Police custody.
