GUWAHATI, Feb 16: More than 14 shops were gutted in a major fire that broke out at Williamnagar market in East Garo Hills district of Meghalaya on Saturday night.
The fire broke out around midnight with the Fire and Emergency services receiving an SoS call at 12:22 am.
The blaze gutted around 14 shops although there has been no injuries or loss of life as a result of the inferno.
It took many fire tenders to bring the fire under control.
Although a short-circuit was first believed to have caused the fire, the disappearance of CCTV cameras has added a new twist with police now looking in the possibility of the blaze which began simultaneously at two ends being an incident of arson.
Police is looking for more evidence to draw a final conclusion.
