Massive Reactor Blast at Telangana Chemical Factory Kills 10 Workers and Many Injured in Pashamylaram

PUBLISHED:

Reactor Blast at Telangana Chemical Factory: A tragic blast shook Telangana’s Pashamylaram area on Monday morning, killing at least 10 factory workers and injuring many more. The explosion happened at Sigachi Industries Pvt Ltd, a manufacturing unit, causing a massive fire and complete destruction of the building. The incident has left families of the victims in deep grief and the local community in shock.

According to officials, the fire alert came in at around 9:37 am, and within minutes, 11 fire engines from nearby stations like Patancheru, Sangareddy, Kukatpally, Madhapur, Jeedimetla, and Rajendranagar rushed to the site. Firefighters were seen battling the intense flames for hours. In a rare move, two robots were also deployed to douse the fire safely due to the danger of further explosions.

Rescue teams worked tirelessly, and by afternoon, five charred bodies were pulled out from the debris. Officials later confirmed that the death toll had climbed to 10, and several more were being treated for injuries. Many of them were working inside the factory when the reactor suddenly exploded, causing a portion of the building to collapse.

This is not the first time such an incident has taken place in the Pashamylaram industrial zone. The region has seen a number of chemical and reactor-related accidents in the past. In one such incident at a pharma plant in nearby Sangareddy, six people had died and over a dozen were injured. In 2023, another blast in Pashamylaram killed three factory workers.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has expressed deep sorrow over the deadly explosion. He has asked district officials to ensure all rescue operations are completed swiftly and that the injured workers receive the best medical care. The Chief Minister also called for a detailed report on the accident and immediate safety checks at similar industrial units in the region.

State Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha also visited the site and directed the district administration to provide full medical support to the injured and ensure that relief measures are quickly implemented.

This tragic incident has raised serious questions about the safety standards in industrial zones like Pashamylaram. While investigations are still on, workers and residents nearby say more needs to be done to prevent such disasters in the future.

Many have now demanded strict government monitoring of factory safety, proper maintenance of machinery, and the use of advanced technology to detect hazards early.

As Telangana mourns the loss of its workers, the hope remains that better safety measures will be taken before another such tragedy strikes again.
