GUWAHATI: Assam director general of police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta on Monday said a mass movement for wearing masks is needed to combat COVID-19 pandemic.
“More than imposing fine, it is important to start a mass movement for wearing masks,” said Mahanta.
He said police will create task forces with concerned departments and municipality bodies to make masks mandatory in public places.
However, DGP Mahanta stated public awareness is need of the hour to defeat the virus.
We are emphasising on creating task force with concerned dept.s like DDMA and Municiple Corporations for making ‘Masks’ mandatory in public places. But this can’t be done successfully without co-operation and commitment from each one of us.#maskup #maskon #AssamFightsCovid pic.twitter.com/zWrtgn9bSW
