Manipur: Security forces arrest three militants in two separate operations, seize arms and ammo in third crackdown

GUWAHATI, Feb 18: Security forces in Manipur continued their relentless operations against militant outfits and their cadres, arresting three cadres of proscribed rebel outfits while also recovering arms and ammunition in the process.

While two cadres of the proscribed KCP (KK Nganba) faction were arrested from Langol Ningthou Leikai under Lamphel Police Station in Imphal West district, another militant leader belonging to RPF/PLA was arrested from Khongman Mangjil, Zone-I in Imphal East.

In the first operation, security forces arrested Chongtham Manglemjao Meitei alias KK Nganba alias Kangleikhonba Nganba (70) the self-styled chairman of KCP (KK Nganba) along with another active cadre named Laishram Manglemba Singh (57) from Langol Ningthou Leikai in Imphal West district.

In the second operation, Shamurailatpam Bipin Sharma alias Nanda (56), an actice RPF/PLA cadre, was arrested from Khongman Mangjil (Zone-I) in Imphal East. Manipur Police said the arrested militant was involved in extortion , targeting government officials, schools and colleges along with the common people.

A mobile phone was seized from his possession.

On the other hand, in another operation launched as part of area domination and search operations, security forces recovered a huge cache or arms and operations from T Khullen village under New Keithelmanbi Police Station in Kangpokpi district.

An HK automatic rifle with magazine, three country made pull mechanism rifle, a single barrel Bolt Action rifle, a .32 pistol with magazine, a .22 pistol with magazine, a mortar (Pumpi), five mortar bombs (Pumpi), a mobile handset, three 7.62 mm ammunition and four 9 mm sniper ammunitions were recovered during the operation.
