GUWAHATI, Dec 6: A joint team of Manipur Police and CRPF arrested three cadres of the outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group) (KCP-PWG) from Phayeng in Imphal West district on Thursday.
The arrested militants have been identified as Laishram Kenjit Singh (36), Md Abdul Matalif (37) and Laishram Langamba Meitei (28).
A country-made 9mm pistol with four live rounds of ammunition were also recovered from their possession.
Further searches were carried out in their hideouts at Kangchup and incriminating items like demand letter were recovered while a workshop for making illegal arms was also sealed.
The arrested militant leaders were allegedly involved in extortion activities, Manipur Police stated.
