In an unpleasant incident, the convoy of Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh was attacked in an ambush by militants on Monday.
The incident took place in Kangpokpi district, during which a security person sustained injuries.
The attack took place at around 10.30 am when CM Singh’s convoy was enroute to Jiribam district from Imphal along the National Highway-37.
Chief Minister was due to make a journey to Jiribam, a locality recently plagued by upheaval after an unidentified group gruesomely beheaded a man on June 6.
Biren Singh was set to travel to this troubled region on Tuesday. The strife in Jiribam led to nearly 70 domiciles and a number of government offices engulfed in flames, prompting hundreds of locals to evacuate.
