A man died of asphyxiation inside a well at Notboma in Guwahati while another person, who had gone down to rescue him but collapsed due to lack of oxygen, is battling for life at GMCH. The deceased has been identified as Batsu Ali while the second person battling for life has been identified as 42 year-old Zakir Hussain.
Batsu Ali had first gone down the well at the residence of a person named Javed Wednesday morning but lost unconscious. Zakir Hussain then descended into the water hole to rescue Batsu. But he too developed breathing complications.

Police and SDRF teams arrived and after a two-hour-long operation, the duo was pulled out of the well. However, Batsu Ali was dead by the time while Zakir was rushed to the GMCH. His situation is learnt to be serious.
