GUWAHATI: Acting on a tip-off, Assam Police on Friday morning arrested a man with a handmade rifle and four cartridges from Hojai district.
Police seized a handmade rifle, which was divided into three parts, three live cartridges and one empty cartridge from the house of one Abdul Latif at Madhyam Samurai under Murajhar police station.
Police arrested Latif in connection with the seizure.
“Acting upon a secret information, Hojai Police conducted raid and search operation in the early hrs today, in the premises of 1) Abdul Latif , S/O Lt Mohammad Ali of Madhyam Samurai, under Murajhar PS One hand made rifle divided into three parts, three no. of live cartridges & one empty cartridge were recovered and the person apprehended . Further legal actions are being taken,” Hojai Police stated in a tweet.
