Mamoni Bazar, an exclusive market by women inaugurated in Cachar

GUWAHATI: For the sale of products made by Self Help Groups (SHGs) and women an exclusive market has been started in Cachar district of Assam. Named Mamoni Bazar, the market place is a first-of-its-kind in the Barak Valley selling products made by women and managed only by women. The Mamoni Bazar is a daily market.

The market Mamoni Bazar was inaugurated by Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar.

Speaking at the occasion Jalli said that such markets works towards women empowerment and should be opened in all the parts of the district.

The deputy commissioner informed that two more women’s markets were being developed in Dholai and Sonai.

The ‘Mamoni Bazar’ shed has been constructed under the District Mineral Foundation Trust at a cost of Rs. 10 lakh.
