Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested the main accused in connection with the murder of Surendra Singh, a close aide of Smriti Irani.
Police have identified the accused as one Wasim who was arrested from Shalhapur area after a brief gunfight. With the arrest of Wasim, all the five accused in the case are now behind the bars.
Surendra Singh, a resident of Barauli was shot at in his home on the night of May 25 and later succumbed to his injuries. Singh had earlier served as a village headman and was a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker.
