Construction of Guwahat’s 2nd medical college, an 18-storey building, at MMCH complex to begin from Jan 1

Guwahati: Good news for Guwahati and Guwahatians as the construction for the 2nd medical college will begin in Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH).This was  announced by  Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday.

CM Sarma said that the services at MMCH will be shut from January 1, 2022 as the construction for the new 18-storey building  of the new medical college will start from the given date.  

CM Sarma further stated that the Pandu FRU and Dhirenpara hospital will be operational for the patients undergoing treatment at MMCH under GMCH.

“The doctors of MMCH will be able to provide services to the patients at Pandu FRU and Dhirenpara hospital,” he added.

Taking to Twitter CM Sarma wrote, “Services at Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital will be shut from Jan 1, 2022 as construction of Guwahati’s 2nd medical college will begin. Pandu FRU & the hospital at Dhirenpara will be run by GMCH for the patients undergoing treatment at MMCH.”

 

CM Sarma further informed that the new services of the superspecialty hospital of GMCH will be operational from February, 2022.

Speaking to News Live Additional Superintendent of MMCH, Dr. Anupal Sarma said that the construction of the new 18-storeyed medical college building  will be completed within next three years.

He further stated that doctors, nurses and all the medical staffs currently working in MMCH will work at Pandu FRU and Dhirenpara hospital respectively.
