Maharashtra girl beaten to death by father: A heart-wrenching tragedy has emerged from Sangli district in Maharashtra, where a 17-year-old girl named Sadhana Bhosale lost her life after being beaten by her own father for scoring low marks in a NEET mock test. The shocking incident has left the state stunned and questioning how far pressure for academic success can go.

Sadhana, a bright Class 12 student, was preparing for the NEET exam with dreams of becoming a doctor. Her family had high hopes from her, especially because she had earlier scored an impressive 95% in her Class 10 board exams. But things turned tragic after she didn’t perform well in a recent preparatory test for NEET.

Her father, Dhondiram Bhagwan Bhosale, a 50-year-old principal at a private educational institution, allegedly lost control when he saw her marks. In a fit of rage, he beat her with a wooden stick at their home on Friday night. Sadhana sustained serious injuries from the beating.

According to police reports, her mother, Preeti Bhosale, rushed her to the hospital the next morning when her condition got worse. She was later shifted to the district hospital, but despite efforts, Sadhana died during treatment.

After performing her daughter’s last rites, Preeti gathered the courage to file a police complaint against her husband. Based on her statement, the police registered a case against Dhondiram Bhosale under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act.

Sub-divisional police officer Vipul Patil and Inspector Vinay Vahir visited the site of the incident. Dhondiram was arrested by Atpadi Police on Sunday and later produced in court, which sent him to police custody till June 24.

The incident has sparked strong emotions across Maharashtra, with many questioning the extreme academic pressure placed on children. While it is natural for parents to want their children to succeed, this tragedy has once again reminded everyone how important it is to provide emotional support, not punishment.

A young girl with dreams of serving as a doctor is now gone forever — not because of her failure, but because of the lack of understanding from someone who should have protected her the most.
