Guwahati: The crucial Maharashtra cabinet meeting is now over. If reports are to be believed then three Maharashtra ministers have skipped the crucial cabinet meet. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackrey who tested positive for Covid-19 earlier joined in via video conferencing.
The details of what transpired in the meeting are yet to be known.
Ahead of the critical cabinet meeting amid the rebellion of Sena MLAs it was Congress leader Kamalnath who had informed that Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackrey had tested positive.
In the meantime Maharashtra Governor, Bhagat Singh Koshiyari tested positive for Covid-19 only a few days back.
This development comes at a time amid massive rebellion among the Shiv Sena MLAs. 33 Shiv Sena MLAs and 7 independent MLAs reached Assam on a chartered flight on the morning of July 22. Speculations about their arrival were rife since the night of 21s as Uddhav Thackrey allegedly was able to reach out to the rebel MLAs at Le Meridian where they were staying.
Right after reaching Guwahati, the rebel Sena MLAs were whisked away to Raddison Blu. The Sena MLAs after reaching went into a huddle. It is interesting to note that ministers of Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma led BJP govt – Pijush Hazarika, Jayanta Malla Baruah are present in the meeting. Along with them are MLA Sushanta Borgohain and Tezpur MP Pallab Lochan Das.
Shiv Sena which heads the Maha Vikash Aghadi govt has 55 MLAs in the Maharashtra Assembly followed by 53 from NCP & 44 from Congress.
The MLAs were 1st shifted to Surat on June 21 and then shifted to Guwahati in the wee hours of June 21 due to ‘security’ reasons.
