Maha Shivratri: Sarbanada Sonowal, Himanta Biswa Sarma offer prayers

GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Sarbanada Sonowal offered prayers to the Lord Shiva on the occasion of Maha Shivratri at Gormur temple in Majuli on Friday.

Clad in traditional Assamese attire, Sonowal took part in religious rituals for more than half an hour.

“I convey my respect to all the people across the Barak-Brahmaputra valleys and the hills and plains of Assam. I seek blessings from the Lord Shiva so that peace can prevail in the state,” CM Sonowal said.

On the other hand, Assam health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma took part in Puja at historic Siddheswar Devalaya at Sualkuchi.

“I am feeling happy to attend the Shivratri celebrations at historic Siddheswar Devalaya. We will work together for the development of this historic temple. I extend my heartfelt wishes to the people of Assam on the occasion of Maha Shivratri,” Dr. Sarma said.
