Lowest COVID-19 infection rate in Assam at 1.41% on Monday

GUWAHATI: Good news for Assam’s fight against COVID-19 as the state recorded lowest infection rate on Monday. The infection rate dipped to 1.41 per cent on Monday. Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said in a tweet that 1,521 new positive cases were detected out of more than one lakh COVID-19 tests conducted during the day.

One month ago on September 13, the rate of infection was 8.33 per cent and on Monday it came down to 1.41 per cent.

“In what shall we treat as a better outcome, I am glad to share that we carried out one lakh plus (107900) tests and only 1521 cases detected, taking the positivity rate further down to 1.41%,” Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted.

The total number of tests done in the state so far is 39,49,847. Of the total 1,95,304 positive cases, there are 29,896 active cases while 826 have died.

Minister Sarma said that 1,457 patients recovered from the disease on Monday taking the total number of cured people to 1,64,579. The recovery rate in the state is 84.93 per cent now.
