Tokyo: Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain defeated Chen Nien-chin (4-1) of Chinese Taipei in Women’s welterweight (69kg) quarterfinal at Tokyo Olympics 2021. Lovlina won the first round and played aggressive to win the match 4-1. This win will assure a medal for Lovlina and team India.
Chen Nien-chin had faced Lovlina Borgohain thrice before and won on all three occasions. Chen Nien-chin is currently ranked third while Lovlina is fifth.
Lovlina has two World Championships bronze medals to her name. The first came at the 2018 World Championships in New Delhi.
