Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) candidate Phani Bhusan Choudhury has won from Assam’s Barpeta seat.
Phani Bhusan Choudhury, who was up against Congress’ Deep Bayan, won by a margin of 2,21,951 votes.
According to the Election Commission of India (ECI) website, Phani Bhusan Choudhury received a total of 8,59,569 votes. While Congress’ Deep Bayan secured 6,37,618 votes.
Phani Bhusan Choudhury, an eight-time AGP MLA, is the longest serving legislator of Assam and was a minister in a previous AGP government as well as in the last BJP-led Sarbananda Sonowal’s government.
