Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Ranjit Dutta has won from Assam’s Sonitpur seat.
Ranjit Dutta, who was up against Congress’ Premlal Ganju, has won by a margin of 3,61,408 votes.
According to Election Commission of India (ECI) website, Ranjit Dutta received a total of 7,75,788 votes. While Congress’ Premlal Ganju secured 4,14,380 votes.
Ranjit Dutta is a former minister in the Sarbananda Sonowal ministry in Assam.
The constituency was renamed from the earlier Tezpur during the delimitation exercise last year.
Ranjit Dutta replaced the sitting BJP MP Pallab Lochan Das from the constituency.
