Lockdown may be declared if situation demands: Pijush Hazarika


GUWAHATI: Assam’s minister of State for health and family welfare Pijush Hazarika indicated that with the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, the State Government may think over enforcing lockdown again if the situation demands.

Talking to News Live, Hazarika said, “We will be compelled to declare lockdown if people do not obey the rules. Today, I have noticed many people not wearing masks. So I request everyone to follow all the norms.”

He stated that government will mull over to go for another lockdown if the situation becomes uncontrollable.

Minister Hazarika also informed media persons that so far on Friday, 21 COVID-19 positive cases with no travel history were detected in Guwahati. He asked everyone to remain cautious in view of rising number of cases.
