Lockdown likely in Guwahati if COVID-19 cases continue to increase

PUBLISHED:

GUWAHATI: With the increasing number of COVID-19 positive cases in Guwahati, the entire city may come under total lockdown, indicated minister of state for health and family welfare Pijush Hazarika.

Talking to News Live minister Hazarika stated that government would think over imposing total lockdown in the entire Guwahati if cases continue to spike.

“If the number keeps increasing, then we will be compelled to declare lockdown in the entire city. Lockdown means troubles for everyone. It is good if we can avoid lockdown. But for that the number of COVID-19 cases must come down. So we must take the precautions,” Hazarika added.

He stated that transmission of COVID-19 in Guwahati is not taking place in particular areas, but everywhere in the city.

On Tuesday, 11 wards of Guwahati were kept under total lockdown in view of rising COVID-19 cases.
