GUWAHATI, Jan 5: A Guwahati-bound Air India Express flight from New Delhi, IX 1067, was diverted to Kolkata where it made an emergency landing with the tarmac at the Lokpriyo Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport temporarily closed down for other flights after a plane suffered a bird hit at the runway.

Panic and terror prevailed upon passengers of the Air India Express flight after the pilot informed them that they could not land at the Guwahati airport following the temporary closure of the runway where the second aircraft which had suffered a bird hit was stationed.

If this was not enough, the pilot then announced that they were low on fuel and were even exploring the option of making an emergency landing at a safer location somewhere mid-way.

Passengers and the cabin crew heaved a sigh of relief after the aircraft landed safely at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata around 4:10 in the evening today.
