Guwahati: Sneha Bandhan, a non-profit organisation and Assam Chess Club are organizing the Late Kailash Nath Sarma Memorial All India Online Inter-School Children Chess Championship from September 4 to 6.
The second edition of the championship in memory of Assam’s eminent litterateur Kailash Nath Sarma has been organised online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
An organising committee with Riniki Bhuyan Sharma as president, Vijaya Sharma and Rashmi Chaliha as secretaries have been formed to host the national level competition.
The winners of the tournament in various categories will receive Scholarship in the form of Free Chess training worth Rs 2,25,000/-
The panel of trainers for the championship includes international master Atanu Lahiri, international arbiter Biswajit Bharadwaj, grandmaster Srinath Narayanan and fide instructor Nandan Buragohain.
The championship will start from 6 PM on September 4 on the International chess playing server chess.com while the opening and closing ceremony will be held through Zoom application.
The first round will begin from 7 PM. Students from class one to four will be allowed to take part in the first round.
Students from class five to eight will participate in the championship on September 5. On the other hand, participants from class nine to twelve will take part on September 6. The results will be announced at 7 PM on September 6 through Zoom app.
