GUWAHATI: The Sarbananda Sonowal government in Assam will provide land pattas (rights) to landless indigenous Assamese people.
The chief minister will distribute the land pattas to 40 thousand landless indigenous families on 28th January.
The decision was made after today’s review meeting of the Revenue and DM department at Janata Bhawan here in Guwahati.
One of the main promises made by the Bharatiya Janata Party government was to provide land rights to those indigenous people residing in the state without any land rights. Over the past 3 years, this issue got delayed due to the NRC process.
CM Shri @sarbanandsonwal chaired a review meeting with officials of Revenue & DM Dept in Guwahati.
With the aim of providing 1 lakh land pattas to landless indigenous families by end of this FY, it was decided that 40,000 land pattas will be given by the end of this month. pic.twitter.com/m2gAdUrdel
