Lalu Yadav expelled his son Tej Pratap after he posted a picture of him with a woman with whom he has been in a relationship for 12 years

RJD chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Yadav on Sunday expelled his eldest son Tej Pratap from “party and family” after a photograph of him along with a woman, who Tej Pratap identified as Anushka Yadav, was uploaded from the latter’s Facebook page.

Tej Pratap, who later claimed that his Facebook page was hacked, had reportedly uploaded a photograph of him and the woman and wrote: “I am Tej Pratap Yadav and the one seen in this picture is Anushka Yadav. We have been known to each other for the last 12 years. We are in love and have been in a relationship for 12 years”.

The action did not go down well with his family. Lalu Yadav expelled him from the party for 6 years while also announcing that Tej Pratap will cease to have any relations with the family thereafter.

“Ignoring moral values in personal life weakens our collective struggle for social justice. The activities, public conduct and irresponsible behaviour of the eldest son are not in accordance with our family values and traditions. Therefore, due to the above circumstances, I am removing him from the party and family. From now on, he will not have any kind of role in the party and the family. He is expelled from the party for 6 years,” Lalu Yadav wrote in a post on ‘X’, formerly Twitter.

Tej Pratap had married Aishwarya, granddaughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Daroga Rai, in 2018 but the marriage lasted barely a few months with Aishwarya leaving the Yadav residence alleging ill-treatment by her husband and in-laws.

Aishwarya’s father Chandrika Roy, a former minister himself, also quit the RJD after the bitter end to his daughter’s marital life.

Meanwhile, Lalu Yadav’s younger son and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav sided with his father saying he party could not ignore “moral values”.

“We cannot tolerate such things, we are working and are dedicated to the people of Bihar,” Tejashwi Yadav posted on ‘X’, and added: “If it’s about my big brother, political life and personal life are different. He has the right to make his personal decisions… Our party’s chief has made it clear”.
