GUWAHATI: The Assam Government will set-up a laboratory at Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) in Guwahati to study Coronavirus and COVID-19. Health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma along with minister of state for health and family welfare Pijush Hazarika visited the proposed site at the hospital on Friday.
“This pandemic has exposed us to new set of challenges. We need to upgrade our learnings as we begin to comprehend the virus better. We shall soon have a lab at MMCH to study #coronavirus and #COVID19,” minister Sarma mentioned in a tweet.

He also visited Jalukbari Ayurvedic College which has been renovated into a full-fledged COVID-19 hospital. With the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, the health department under the leadership of Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has been gearing up with new facilities to tackle the situation.
