GUWAHATI, Dec 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Sunday, Dec 22, presented with Kuwait’s highest honour, ‘The Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer’, the knighthood order of the country.
With this honour, Prime Minister Modi has been bestowed with the 20th international honour by a foreign nation.
“I am honoured to be conferred the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Order by His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah. I dedicate this honour to the people of India and to the strong friendship between India and Kuwait,” Prime Minister Modi wrote on his ‘X’ handle.
Among past recipients of the title — awarded to heads of state, foreign sovereigns, and to members of foreign royal families as sign of friendship — includes Prince Charles, and George Bush.
Prime Minister Modi is on a two-day visit to the Gulf nation, the first by an Indian prime minister in 43 years.
