GUWAHATI, March 24: Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra is in the eye of a major storm following his alleged comments directed at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde while the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) carried out a demolition drive at Habitat Studio in Mumbai today (March 24) where the standup comedian made the controversial remark against Shinde.

Kamra had sang a parody version of popular song ‘Bholi Si Surat’ from the 1997 blockbuster ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ and used the term “gaddar” (traitor) to reportedly targeted Shinde.

Multiple FIRs were filed against the stand-up comedian, including one based on a complaint by minister Pratap Sarnaik.

BMC officials arrived at the premises with hammers and carried out the demolition drive citing violation of rules.

Incidentally members of Yuva Sena, the youth wing of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction, vandalised the Habitat comedy venue following the controversy.

Police, meanwhile, have arrested 11 Yuva Sena members after the protests.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, on the other hand, asked Kunal Kamra to issue an apology for insulting Eknath Shinde.
