GUWAHATI, Nov 14: Two knife-wielding chain snatchers who came on a two-wheeler robbed a woman of her gold ornaments in Rajgarh locality of Guwahati.
The incident took place this morning when the woman, identified as Babita Das, was learning to ride her two-wheeler. The miscreants, who had also come on a two-wheeler, first approached her asking about the route to Chandmari Colony. But before she could reply, one of them placed a sharp knife on her neck and asked her to hand over all her gold ornaments to them.
They then escaped with the woman’s ornaments.
The victim said the miscreants took a gold chain and earrings from her before making good their escape.
The ornaments were worth approximately Rs 10 lakh, the victim further added.
Residents of the area said similar incidents had taken place in the locality in the past as well. They urged Guwahati Police and administration officials to take stringent steps to bring down such incidents and to arrest the miscreants.
