Guwahati: Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti(KMSS) with an eye at upcoming Assam assembly elections in 2021 has announced its political outfit. The new political party has been named as ‘Raijor Dal’.
The party was announced at a meeting in Guwahati. Besides KMSS leaders and members, film director Jahnu Barua, Lachit Sena leader Srinkhal Chaliha were also present at the event.
According to sources, the new party ‘Raijor Dal’ has the support of at least 70 ethnic organizations of Assam that will be headed by peasant leader Akhil Gogoi.
Earlier on Thursday, KMSS president Bhasco De Saikia said, “We KMSS were preparing for many days to form a new political party. Today we announce that we KMSS along with 70 other ethnic organizations of Assam altogether will form the party. On October 2 the political party will be launched officially”.
Saikia also added, “People of all caste, religion will be part of the new political party.”
