Killer dumpers took another life after a motorcycle rider was knocked down by another killer vehicle at Numaligarh
Killer dumpers continue to take innocent lives in Assam with atleast two persons, including a woman in Sipajhar, run over by speeding vehicles in the past 24 hours.
A speeding dumper ran over the woman at Bhuktabari near Sipajhar in Assam’s Darrang district when she had come out to take an early morning stroll.
The accident took place at the Ghorabondha-Gorukhuti road, and the speeding earth-laden vehicle (bearing registration number AS-13 AC-6841), after hitting the woman — who has been identified as Minakshi Devi — went out of control and overturned on the road.
The deceased, who is said to be around 40 years old, leaves behind two daughters.
Residents allege that speeding dumpers have been involved in many accidents in the past as well while their pleas and requests to administration officials to rein in the killer dumpers have largely fallen on deaf ears with no action taken.
“We will not allow dumpers to ply through this road. Dumpers are creating terror. The woman who was killed is my sister-in-law. She leaves behind two daughters. Who will take care of them now. They family is very poor. Adequate compensation should be given to the family, either by the dumper owner or by the administration,” a resident of the area, who also happens to be the deceased woman’s sister-in-law, told News Live.
On the other hand, a biker was knocked down by another speeding dumper on the National Highway No. 39 at Numaligarh, killing him on the spot.
The mishap took place early Monday morning and the vehicle involved in the accident fled after killing the youth who has been identified as Rana Kandali, a resident of Komargaon Bosapathar village.
On the other hand, a home guard is fighting for life at Silchar Medical College Hopsital (SMCH) after he was knocked down by another speeding dumper at the Silchar-Kalain Road.
