Kidnapped vegetable vendor from Assam rescued by East Garo Hills Police

Guwahati:  In a major breakthrough, the special operation team of East Garo Hills police has successfully rescued vegetable vendor Hanif Ali, who was abducted from Nongchram village on the midnight of March 23.

The 57 year old vegetable vendor Hanif Ali, hailing from Krishnai town in Assam’s Goalpara district, was sleeping in the house of one Mahabel Marak when an unknown person entered the house and took him away.

A complaint was lodged at Rongjeng police station on March 24. On receiving information regarding the abduction, East Garo Hills police launched a search and rescue operation. On Friday around 1.30 pm the special operation team launched a search operation at Dimit Chikamagre village and busted the hideout where the victim was held captive.

The abductors fled away taking advantage of the thick jungle. However, operation is on to nab the culprits.
