GUWAHATI, Jan 18: Host State Assam had a good outing on Day 8 of the ongoing 3rd Khelo India Youth Games in Guwahati on Friday. Assam weightlifters continued their good show with Sidhanta Gogoi winning the third gold for the host State in the Boys’ (Under-21) 61 kg category event..
This is the ninth overall gold for Assam and the third won by the host state on Friday.
The two other golds came in swimming with Shivangi Sharma claiming the top podium finish in the Girls’ (U-21) 200 metres freestyle and 800 metres freestyle events.

Assam lifters had earlier in the day won two silver medals. While Prabal Pratim Gogoi came second in the Boys’ (U-17) 55 kg-weight event, Gitashree Sonowal won the silver in Girls’ (U-21) 49 kg event.
Anubhuti Baruah and Rajashree Buragohain also won bronze medals in the Girls’ (U-21) 50 metres butterfly and in Girls’ (U-21) 100 metres breaststroke swimming events respectively.
