An IIT-Kharagpur graduate from Maharashtra has travelled all the way to Majuli where he has set up a “model school” to teach students from economically weaker families. Bipin Dhane had graduated in Naval Architecture and then flew to Singapore after grabbing a promising job in a multinational company.
However, Dhane had a change of mind and also his immediate priorities and future plans after a chat on the social media with a friend working in Majuli. He decided instantly that Majuli was the destination for him as he wanted to work, like his friend, for children from less fortunate families.
He left his well-paid job in Singapore in 2015 and headed to Majuli where he set up a school at Kalamua in the river island.

In 2017, he established a co-educational English medium school that now has around 240 students. Besides imparting regular classes on curriculum subjects, special emphasis is laid on co-curricular activities like music, dance and sports.
